I have been busy this week

Well, been a fairly busy week here, I was able to get some snowmen finished and quite a few Raggedy bodies sewn up.  I am trying to get caught up, the new Country Sampler came out and orders are doing fairly well.  My husband booked the cruise, so we leave on July 10th and get back on July 14th.  We are just going to the Bahamas. We are going with my daughter and her boyfriend, they wanted to go and asked us to go also.  I guess I am looking forward to the food most of all, not the sun.  So trying to not eat much right now so I can add a few pounds when cruise time comes. My friend Becky is going to come and stay at the house.  She will dog sit for me and send e-pattern orders out.  My dogs know her and my cats love her. Her hubby's birthday is day before we leave, so wasn't sure if her husband would mind her coming.  I told him, my birthday present to him this year was give him some quiet time at his home, without Becky being there.  He laughingly said, couldn't you book a month long cruise instead.  So I guess that means he doesn't mind after all.  I think the hardest part of going on the cruise will not be able to get on the internet for 4 days. Hubby said it will costs about 25.00 dollars a hour and not that good of a connection.  So am buying lots of good books and going to find a me a spot under an umbrella let them swim and watch and read.

Here are some pics of what I have working on this week. I was busy making snowmen. Still have a few bodies to finish up.

First off I did my new #447 Snowball Fight, I was able to get 3 of these done. It was perfect outside this week, up in the high 80's and hot.  The snowman were able to bake in the sun.

These guys are from my Wynter Snowman pattern #400. I actually had the heads made last year and just now dug them out of the huge pile of not finished projects. I am still trying to finish what I started last year.

These are from my pattern Winter Friends, I haven't put the little mouse on their hats yet, still have them drying.  I have a whole batch of tags to get stained and out to dry tomorrow.

I also got a whole bunch of raggedy bodies waiting for their face and clothes to be made. I figured if I started with easy patterns, my pile of finished items would grow faster. I have not been motivated at all this year. I can't believe we are almost in June. My little baby will be 20 on June 15th.  Scary how fast time flies by anymore.

I made these little Raggedies, they are a little brighter than I normally do. I think my taste are changing slightly, I still like the primitve dirty look, but find in my area that cutesy country seems to sell the best. I once overhead a child ask his mom, why everything looked dirty. I guess kids don't understand prim.

Working on pillows, wall quilts and bears

I was going through my patterns the other day, couldn't decide what I wanted to sew.  I found some old Sarah Sporrer books with patterns and decided to do a few of them up.  I have the whole series of the nursery rhymes. I got the Humpty Dumpty one finished.

Next, I put some of her prim gingerbread men on a pillow and really like the way they turned out.
I made a few more pillows with the Christmas designs . Do applique is a nice break from sewing.

Finally got my bears finished up from Sweet Meadows farm pattern. I have a ton of fur that I had bought over the last few years and want to try to get a bunch of these made this year.

My daughter and her boyfriend want us to go a cruise with them in July.  I want to go, but am not much for being in the sun alot.  This cruise is a five day to the Bahamas.  So I guess I need to get really busy and get stitching to get caught up, so I can take a few days off with my hubby, and daughter.

Working on Dolls and new ornament pattern

I have been busyworking on some dolls for the next issue of Country Sampler. This is my Miz Ruby pattern.  The Country Sampler should be coming out in a few days.  I have 4 more bodies to stuff and paint yet. I love the little feedsacks with them. I am planning on using them with most of my dolls this year.

I also got a new ornament pattern up, alot of emails asking for ornament patterns and this is a quick and easy one to do. It has 3 different ornaments, all made from warm and natural.  I am doing a special price on this pattern until I get it put on my website. Just look on the side bar to purchase. It will be only $4.00 for a limited time.

I was also busy creating a new scarecrow head out of wood. I will offering this pattern as a freebie this week on my blog.  So please check back in a couple of days.

My Wood Scarecrow heads

I can't believe I did it, I was kind of nervouse about using the saws.  But hubby said try it and it was easy.  I used a zigsaw and went to it.  This is a pattern by Country Thoughts by Jody.  I love it, I have several of hers, I had purchased awhile back. I always said one day I will learn how to use the saws and that day has finally come.  Now a trip to Home Depot for some more lumber to get started.

Now, I am thinking of doing some of my own wood patterns. I just need to get a work area made now, so that is easier to get everything cut out. We just rigged something the other day.

Been making some ornaments, I made a little ornament from the pattern Snowball fight, loved the snowman head and made an ornament to match, minus the little mouse.  Still need to add a prim tag and he is all done. These were so quick to make up.

Working on some Sadie dolls tonight, the next issue of Country Sampler will be out soon and need to get some dolls made. Check out my You are Special blog, just added a new tutorial and got some of the YAS patterns ready in e-pattern form, I have a special on them right now, some please go check it out at:

Mothers day and Becky's Visit

I wasn't sure how Mothers day was going to turn out this year.  This was the second year, she hasn't been here, but last year, I was kept busy taking care of my dad.  Brought back some sad memories, little did we know he only had 3 more months to live, and most of that was in the hospital. But all in all it turned out to be a great weekend.

My friend Becky was in town, this weekend, she brought an apron she made for her mother in law. It looks really pretty in person.  She used all vintage colors on the apron.  She is planning on making some for my
upcoming shows this year.

Becky also got a little teary eyed over Belle, and sat down and loved on her for awhile.  Belle loved it.  Don't know how much longer Belle will be with us. I am hoping Becky will be coming again in a few weeks and staying with her dad again. We are planning on her  staying at the house one night, so we can craft, quilt and have some girl fun.

My daughter, Samantha, took me out to the new Chinese restaurant in town yesterday for Mother's day, and then her and her boyfriend Chris came over today and swam.  They brought the dogs and all had a good time in the pool..  Hubby was thrilled someone was using the pool, he put it in.  He put in this pool all by himself with a kit.  The yard was torn up something awful while he was working on it.  the pool is about 30ft. long and we live in town, so we don't have much of a backyard anymore.

Buddy went for a reluctant swim.

Their little doberman pincher loves the water.

Hurley did not want to be in the pool at all. But they all got wet and played and had fun.

Well, hope to post some pictures tomorrow.  I actually got up the nerve to use the jigsaw and cut out a scarecrow from a Country Thoughts by Jody pattern, I love it.  So am thinking maybe it is time to make some wood patterns.

Buddy's big rescue attempt and new stuff I got finished this week

You probably remember this little poodle, "Buddy" I inherited him, when my parents both passed away last year.  He is very spoiled, doesn't get along with other dogs, especially my dog Belle.  Now Belle, is old, at least 14 years old .  She is completely deaf and has cataracts on both eyes, so she can't see very well.  She is not getting around very well anymore, I am trying to work up the courage to take her to the vet to have her put to sleep. She struggles getting up, and I hate for her to suffer.  We have an inground pool, that is about 30 feet in length, and twice now she has fell into the pool, once my daughters dog accidentally pushed her in and another times, she fell in on her own.  But today, I was at the computer, and Buddy keep barking at the back door, I was frustrated, because he kept at it, I finally said FINE you are going outside and staying there, but imagine my shock when I opened the door and saw Belle in the pool, frantically trying to stay afloat and grab on to side, I rushed out and pulled her out, luckily she was okay.  But if it weren't for Buddy, I wonder is I would have found her when I did. I am afraid to leave the house now for any length of time, incase it happens again.  We have a cat door, that dogs and cats go out.

This is Belle, she is so frail looking now.  But seems to perk up at night and want petted, so don't know what to do.

Here are a few of the things I have gotten done this week.  These little elves took me several days to get them done, but glad I finished them. I would like to find some little hammers to go in their hands. I like to display these on a 4 foot ladder at my shows.

Next, I was able to get 6 of the Prairie doll Angels finished, used up some of the fabric stash I had on these.
Made their bags from an old quilt. They have no legs and the dress is long.
