Well, I thought it was over

Hi all,
My daughter and I got to the hospital this morning about 11:00am and was informed when we got there that my dad was having a heart attack. But it was a silent one, he didn't feel good, but had no pain. So they took him down to cardiac and had to put another stint in his heart. He had a lot of plaque buildup in his arteries, they were able to clear out the plaque. He hadn't been taking his medicine for some time, even though he was supposed to be taking it. He said it was too expensive. But I think this scared him, he said he would have to take it now. But luckily he was feeling better by the time we left. What a way to spend the day, plannin on a hour stay and it turned into 5hours. My daughter had a date and had to leave, my poor husband had to come and pick me up and then get back to work, he only had about 10 minutes to spare. My dad's church has been a God send, they come and help and told me to call them whenever I need a ride from now on, they know I don't have a vehicle right now and I am kind of stuck when my husband has to work. So please continue to keep my dad in your prayers.

New Pattern

Hi,

I took a day to myself today and didn't go anywhere. I finally finished a new Santa, I have been working on for awhile now. This Santa is 36" tall, and easy to make. I found a Walmart in Gainesville that still has fabric. I found some dark red fleece that works perfect for this Santa's robe. It was only $2.00 a yard. I am thinking I am going to go back and get the rest of it before it is gone. I love the way he turned out. As you can probably tell, Santa's are a weakness with me, never can have too many Santa's. I need to get started on my fall items this coming week.

I counted the months, and it is only 4 months until my first show. So here is a picture of my new Santa, let me know what you think and I should have the pattern ready in a few days.

Things are looking up

HI ,
thanks so much for all your prayers and kind words. He finally got his surgery done yesterday. He got cancelled the first day they scheduled. His doctors told him it was a very risky surgery, which scared him half to death. But yesterday they came and wheeled him away about 4:00, he had to wait in post op till after six. They were going to take out his spleen, because they thought the mass was a blood clot, but after they got in there they found out it was an abscess, so then the doctors have to consult with some other doctors, before they could proceed. He had a high risk of bleeding. But finally surgery was over at 10:00 last night. Went to see him this morning in ICU, he was feeling sick to his stomach and looked terrrible, I dont know how many IV's were hooked up to him. Of course, he was cranky, he has been in the hospital almost 12 days now. He is worried about all the hospital bills and wants out. So at least he is finally over the hard part, the surgery and if everything goes well should be coming home in 3-4 days.
so thanks again for everyones prayers and well wishes.

Need your prayers

HI,
We thought my dad was on the mend, but now he has an operation scheduled for tomorrow. He has a clot in his heart and one on his spleen. The one on his spleen is bleeding. They are afraid, it will break loose and travel and kill him. But 2 of his doctors say he won't survive the operation, another says they have to operate. So please keep him in your prayers tonight. He is being operated on tomorrow at 8:00 in the morning.
Thanks,
sandy

GOT A FEW ITEMS DONE THIS WEEK

HI,
Just wanted to thank everyone for their kind words and prayers. My dad is doing much better. He should be getting out of the hospital tomorrow or the next day. His speech is the only lingering effect of the stroke, and already he is speaking better. At least now, we can understand him.
I managed to get a few things done this week. I started on the sachets, tranferred the images to front of the bags. I also got my order from Atlantic spice for the herbs and botanicals that go into the sachet mix. I am supposed to add the fragrance oil and let them sit for at least 4 weeks.
I am so impatient, I want to finish them now. I am doing them in a Raggedy Ann , Christmas, Website logo, and everyday images. I have included a couple of pictures of the bags and the mixture.

Also, the new Country Sampler came out, I am having a good response to the doll Sadie that is in the magazine. I have sold several of them already finished. So I need to get busy on them, have them started but haven't time this past week to finish them. Luckily she makes up fast is easy to do. Hope everyone is having a happy and safe Memorial day.

Terrible Day today

HI,
I thought things would settle down after my mom died. But it hasn't, my dad's health is getting worse. He had a stroke tonight, called me and I couldn't understand anything he said, we rushed down to his house and I could tell right away it was a stroke, his mouth was drawn to one side and very weak. He has been wanting to die since my mom passed away, he doesn't want to live without her. So I don't know how he will handle this..He was so upset they let me ride in the back of the rescue unit with him. I don't know what I will do if he is unable to live by himself. My house is so small, and I can't even think of a nursing home. Not sure what to do. Hopefully somehow he will come out of this. Please keep him in your prayers. Thanks for listening.

New Santa

HI,
my giveaway last week went great, and I plan on doing another one very soon. Leslie emailed me and told me she received it and loved it. I am so glad. I have been working on a new Santa pattern. I am going to call this one Mr. Jingles. He is approx. 27 inches tall, dressed in red flannel and holding a prim candy cane. I love the way he turned out. I am trying to get my new stuff done for the deadline of Country Sampler at the end of the month. So far, he is one of the items that will be in that issue for Christmas. I have a couple of more ideas I hope to get done this week.
Everything has sort of slowed down for the moment, it gives me time to get some of those patterns I have been wanting to make done. I have 3 boxes of patterns, I haven't had time to make yet. I guess I am a pattern addict, can't resist buying patterns and fabrics. I told myself, I am going to use up my fabric I have had on the shelves for awhile now, instead of buying new. Hope I can hold out. I can't believe how much I have. If I could get all that sewed up I would have tons of stuff ready for the shows this year.
I actually bought a few wood patterns and want to try to make up some wooden Santa's and snowmen. My husband has the saws and sanders, just has to pull it all out of the shed for me to use.
Well, that's about all for today. I am going to be making sachets this weekend, got all my supplies and hopefully will get some made and posted this weekend. My friend Carmen, bought me one a local prim store and it was called a moth chaser, has a prim sheep on the outside. It is just a muslin bag with drawstring and smells so good. I have to try some for myself.
So keep a lookout this weekend, I will post about a new giveaway.
happy crafting.

Craftin again

Well, it has been a month since my mom died. It is getting some easier, still when I think of her, I get tears in my eyes. I got a lot of her old books and fabrics and been finding some little notes of hers tucked here and there. Like my dad said "Life goes on". He is doing a little better now. I am trying to talk him to go back up north to visit his sister and few of the relatives he has left, not having much luck, he doesn't want to leave his little poodle. Even though I have said I will take care of him.
Well, I finally got my new patterns finished like I want them to be. I had to get back to work, I was getting behind and I needed something to help me get my mind off my mom.
I got busy this week and made some of the feedsack pillows, I used the feedsack images from Ewe n me printables. I have about 25 of them made so far, I am stuffing them with sawdust, these sell very well for me at the shows. Luckily my friend Carmen and her husband do a lot of woodwork and save me the sawdust. The reindeer ones sells really well at Christmas. Being stuffed with the sawdust gives them a nice weight.
I made over 100 of the bottlecap ornaments/tags this week. I also used several of the images from Ewe'n'me printables. I package them in the little zip bags I get at Walmart and they fit perfectly.

I wanted more than just the two little reindeer I had in the previous post so I added a wreath size reindeer, This pattern is called Santa's Reindeer, there are 3 different sizes to this pattern. Ornament, plant poke and wreath size. These I hope are going to be big sellers for me at the show, they make up so quick.

this is another new pattern, on the last post I had only made the Santa made in the cone, so I made a snowman to go with him. These are made on the paper mache`cones. These also seem to make up very quickly. I am trying to make a lot of smaller priced items this year.

Christmas Santa's pattern, these are done on the wooden bobbins, 2 different sizes and the small santa is made on a wooden clothespin. These make up pretty quick. NO body to sew and stuff. The bobbins I have been buying off of ebay.

I am sending the pictures to my webmaster this weekend, so hopefully they will be on the site this week sometime. The New Country Sampler will be coming out sometime in may, I will have an ad for You are Special and the Olde Country Cupboard in that issue. This will be the June/July issue. It is so hard to believe that the year is flying by so fast. I already have the contract for the Christmas issue of Country Sampler. So have to busy and get those items made up and ready to go.
This has been a busy week, getting all my new stuff made, my daughter has gotten a new job. She was working at CVS, she had been there for 2 years and they kept cutting hours, she was only getting about 10-15 hours a week, so a friend of hers, got her a job at the Chevy-Dodge dealership. The only problem, I have with it is, that she will have to drive to Jacksonville and Gainesville area and deliver parts. I don't like the idea of her out driving like that. but I guess I have to get used to it, she is almost 19. This will be a full time job for her plus a 30 cent an hour raise. I sure miss the days, when she was little and I knew where she was at all times. Luckily she still lives at home, but has informed me, she wants a pool party tonight and I have to disappear. Good thing I bought a bunch of books, to keep my in room tonight as her dad is working nightshift. So thanks for listening to me and check out my friends new blog at http://crowsonthecupola.blogspot.com/
